EventsAccraUrbanLinkProgress Update

UrbanLink has made significant progress in its mission to build a reliable, comfortable, and technology-driven commuting solution for Accra’s growing workforce. After months of steady development, the team has completed a high-fidelity interactive design prototype using Figma, which demonstrates the full user journey of our mobility platform. This prototype allows users to navigate the scheduled ride flow, experience the tap-and-ride payment interface, and preview the real-time updates and route management features in a seamless click-through environment. Although not yet connected to a backend, the prototype represents a detailed visual and experiential model of our intended final product and gives a clear picture of how the UrbanLink system will work during the pilot.

In addition to completing the prototype, UrbanLink has successfully assembled a capable and committed core team, namely:
-> Ekow Harding – Doubles as the Project Lead and UI/UX designer. LinkedIn

-> Justice Essiel – Blockchain developer.Github, LinkedIn

-> Brahim Maleek – Software Engineer. Github

-> Desmond Lomoko - Mobile App Developer. Github, LinkedIn

-> Kelvin Asamoah – Operations manager. LinkedIn

->Richmond Sabah – Community manager. LinkedIn

Together, this team provides the technical expertise, operational planning, and community insight required to bring UrbanLink to life.

Another major achievement is our newly secured partnership with Margo Motors Ghana. This partnership will supply the electric vehicles needed for our pilot, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. For the pilot phase, we will be working with 10-seater electric shuttles, which will allow us to test routes, scheduling patterns, and user demand under real conditions.
In the long term, the goal is to expand to larger 20- to 50-seater electric buses as ridership grows and operational scale increases. This collaboration with Margo Motors not only strengthens the environmental sustainability of the UrbanLink vision but also ensures that our service remains modern, safe, and fully aligned with the future of mobility.

To ensure the solution is tailored to the real needs of Accra’s workers, we conducted a comprehensive market survey that produced valuable insights. We received a total of 1,029 responses from employees working in 25+ companies across four major business districts in Accra. The findings were remarkable: 97% of respondents expressed a strong preference for scheduled rides that could reliably pick them up from home to work in the morning and back home in the evening. Additionally, 91% indicated that they were willing to pay a little extra for the comfort, reliability, and predictability UrbanLink promises — a clear signal that workers are ready for an improved commuting experience. Perhaps most importantly, every single respondent — 100% — agreed that commuting conditions directly affect their productivity. This confirms that improving the daily commute is not just a convenience, but a genuine contributor to workplace performance and overall well-being. Find the overall results here.

Altogether, these milestones paint a strong picture of UrbanLink’s readiness for the next phase. With a design prototype, a well-structured team, a strategic vehicle partnership, and clear market validation backed by real user data, UrbanLink is entering a pivotal stage. Each step brings us closer to transforming Accra’s daily commute into a more reliable, efficient, and dignified experience for the modern worker.
